But as an action game, it might disappoint. If you really get into the hunting aspect, learning your enemies, and are not determined to take them down as fast as possible, it's quite enjoyable. But the game almost urges you to play it like a fast-action game. In any case, it's not for everyone. The ones that it grabs, though, it grabs GOOD. Coupled with inability to save, all I found myself doing was looking for sticks for hours, only to suddenly die and have to begin again. Some might be into that scenario but it really wasn't any fun. However, The Long Dark looks very immersive, atmospheric, and more 'realistic' that might reward multiple gaming. Is there an 'easy' or 'managable' level of difficulty?Pros and Cons for this game? Any challenges for Mac users? Thanks!! Any challenges for Mac users? Thanks!!Um.If you don't like looking for sticks. Pros:-Difficult, but as long as you don't make mistakes, you'll be ok. I think The Long Dark is one of those games you simply have to try. The 'feeling' you get playing it is hard to describe with a pro/con list. They did a fantastic job with the art style, sounds and mechanics, which create a feeling of immersion unfamiliar to most gamers. It's something unique, immersive, and still being added to. I recommend trying the game now, get used to some mechanics in sandbox and then enjoy the story mode when it comes out.In my personal opinion, it's absolutely worth the price just for the experience - and Story Mode will make it an even better deal.Lastly, picking up sticks builds character.P.S. There are also 3 game modes representing different difficulty levels and gameplay styles.Pros:Great atmosphereReplayabilityRealistic weather effectsSignificantly stable and solid (not many bugs, especially for EA)You'll like it if you like: Exploration and looting/scavaging supplies.Three game modes (Easy, Normal and Masochistic)Permadeath - some may see as a con, but this REALLY adds to the tension/realism.Cons:Not for those frustrated easily. If you make a bad call, it'll cost you - maybe your life. Not for those who want a shooter. You are hunted more than hunter here.Weather may frustrate you if you insist on having clear weather before exploringCrafting is somewhat limited, I hope they add more in the futureDays where you need to gather wood, melt snow or cook meat may feel repetitive/dull. Any challenges for Mac users? Thanks!! I understand you - the first 4 hours of game play were rough for me too. I just wasnt getting it - (this was back in 2014 though - with only one map).I kept dying. I would only survive 15 hours, then 24 hours. The game is much better now - play without the animal attacks to learn how to survive - and cross the ravine. Prepare to die alot - and learn from every experience. I hit an 8 day run of surviving - then i died crossing the ravine. I almost punched the computer screen. But now im excited to start over. Knowing death is permanant makes you much more invested in the charater. Now im down right obsessed with surviving!
